Leeds United know what to do after Ermedin Demirovic display for Bosnia vs Canada
Leeds United had been linked with a move to sign Ermedin Demirovic in an attempt to bolster their attack.
Signing a goalkeeper, or two depending on the future of Karl Darlow, will be a priority for Leeds this summer, though it won't be the only one.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor carried their attack in the Premier League last season, and they will need more options to reduce the pressure on them next campaign.
There's a strong possibility that the Whites will look to add a new striker and a new winger to their squad, though the former will likely be higher up the list of importance.
Demirovic was linked with a move to Elland Road to satisfy those needs
However, after what happened in Bosnia's World Cup opener, it's clear what Leeds must do this summer.
How did Ermedin Demirovic fare vs Canada?
Unfortunately for Leeds, not very well at all.
The 30-year-old failed to have the desired impact in the final third for his country, but what stood out the most was his lack of quality in transition.
Demirovic won just four of his 11 ground duels against Canada, while also having committed four fouls.
Given the fact that he is the type of striker whose main draw is to hold the ball up, those stats are concerning.
He won seven of his 11 aerial duels, but with a zero per cent dribble success rate and a 71 per cent pass accuracy, his lack of quality on the ball was clear to see.
What type of striker do Leeds need?
Calvert-Lewin remains likely to be the number one for the Whites next season, but they need another option to offer something different.
Leeds lack the number nine capable of getting in behind a defence, which has to be the type of profile they look at this summer.
Lois Openda has been linked, and whule that deal may prove to be too expensive, and too much of a risk, that is the type of player that they should be looking to bring to Elland Road in the coming months.
