Leeds United in transfer battle with Napoli and Aston Villa for Sunderland ace Trai Hume
Leeds United are readying themselves to enter a five-horse race for Sunderland star Trai Hume, according to LeedsLive.
The report claims that the Whites are set to go up against the likes of Aston Villa, Leicester City, Bournemouth and even Napoli in their chase for Hume this summer.
Daniel Farke is targeting reinforcement at right-back with Conor Roberts’ loan spell having ended and Archie Gray perhaps being utilised back in his more recognised position of central midfield next term.
What Trai Hume could bring to Leeds if he joined in the summer
As aforementioned, right-back is an area in which the Whites are looking to add reinforcements, hence their recent chase for Alfie Gilchrist from Chelsea.
Both Roberts and Luke Ayling have departed the club – the latter having joined Middlesbrough full time having left on loan in January – which has left the West Yorkshire outfit a little light of options at full-back.
The club narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier League this season, despite racking up a total of 90 points.
Hence, why Hume would be an ideal player to add within their ranks. The Northern Ireland international played a total of 47 games with 46 coming in the second tier.

Although he only managed to involve himself with two goals, his defensive work is where he really shines.
As per Sofascore, Hume made on average a total of 3.3 tackles per game, 1.4 interceptions, and made zero errors which led to goals in the Championship.
When compared to Gray, who was widely regarded as one of Leeds’ best players, the starlet only managed to average a total of 2.1 tackles per game, 0.7 interceptions, and also made no errors that led to goals.
Not only does this show the quality Hume possesses but also shows how mature of a footballer he is for 22-years-old.
Farke’s men had been previously linked with the defender back in April and it appears the interest might still be there.
If Leeds manage to fight off their competitors for his transfer, they will no doubt have one of the best defensive right-backs in the Championship within their ranks.
In other Leeds news, Patrick Bamford has been linked with a move away from Elland Road in a surprising turn of events.
