Leeds United finalising Marc Roca exit as cut-price transfer news emerges

Leeds United are finalising a deal with Real Betis for Marc Roca, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The Spanish news outlet reported online (18 June) that Betis had the option to extend Roca’s loan for another season after the Whites failed to earn promotion to the Premier League.

However, terms are now being finalised for the 27-year-old to leave Elland Road permanently.

The LaLiga side have proposed an offer to Leeds which is worth less than their £10million buy option.

Marc Roca set to leave Leeds United permanently and join Real Betis

While it looks as if the Whites have accepted a cut-price deal, it makes plenty of sense for them to do this.

If Roca had spent another season on loan with Betis there is no guarantee that the Spanish side would have taken the buy option next season.

That would have left Leeds with a player entering the final year of his contract who clearly wants out at Elland Road.

As a result, they likely would have had to accept a cut-price deal for Roca next summer anyway.

The defensive midfielder is clearly settled in Spain and has no future in the Championship with Leeds, and the Whites are therefore wise to get the player off their books and bring in some cash for him.

Daniel Farke’s side need a financial boost after missing out on promotion.

And selling a player who spent last season away from Elland Road isn’t a bad bit of business, even if it is at a discount price.

In other Leeds United news, the club are set to receive a £40million boost at Elland Road.
