Emi Buendia transfer: Leeds United signing update after £75k-a-week reveal

Leeds United would struggle to sign Emi Buendia in January with his £75,000-a-week wages a stumbling block at Aston Villa, according to TEAMtalk.

The Whites’ chase to sign Buendia on loan was already looking unlikely but latest reports (31 December) have dampened chances even further after revealing the Argentine is earning big money at Villa Park.

Buendia’s signing would boost Leeds’ promotion hopes significantly but it is understood that Villa would demand 100 per cent of his wages being covered.

Leeds United must attempt Buendia negotiation

Ultimately, Buendia is a fringe player under Unai Emery this season and his lack of involvement will likely see him seek a way out this January but with Villa wanting his wages covered, it’s hard to imagine many willing to meet their demands.

Would they want to keep a player who could become unsettled? It’s unlikely and given that, Leeds must attempt to persuade the Villans into lowering their demands in a bid to bring him to Elland Road.

It would be a massive boost to their hopes of achieving promotion and the type of ambition that is needed to return to the Premier League.

Of course, the Whites cannot afford to put all their eggs in one basket but it is a deal they need to keep an eye on, with Buendia needing to be convinced too.

The longer the window goes on, the more likely Villa are to reduce their demands and it could provide Daniel Farke’s side with an opportunity to pounce.
