Leeds United eye Robin Zentner transfer as hope emerges on deal
Leeds United are reportedly considering a move for Mainz ace Robin Zentner this summer.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper is on the back of an impressive campaign in Germany, where he made the Bundesliga Team of the Season.
Leeds appear to be prioritising Lucas Perri from Lyon, but the 30-year-old is understood to be under consideration as well.

Leeds United hopeful of sealing new goalkeeper transfer
According to The Athletic’s Beren Cross (24 July), signing a goalkeeper remains a priority for the Whites in this window.
They have cast their net far and wide, but Zentner and Perri are understood to be the main ones under consideration.
Competition | Matches played | Goals conceded | Clean sheets | Minutes played |
Bundesliga | 32 | 41 | 9 | 2880′ |
DFB-Pokal | 2 | 5 | – | 210′ |
Total | 34 | 46 | 9 | 3090′ |
There is hope at Elland Road that progress will be made on the new keeper signing and that he’s not likely to take too long to adapt to the system.
However, Perri does seem to be on his way to West Yorkshire, so they’re unlikely to proceed with the German goalkeeper.

Daniel Farke needs an upgrade on Illan Meslier
Leeds United’s decision to pursue Perri over Zentner is a strategic move for their Premier League return.
Perri, a 27-year-old Brazilian, demonstrated exceptional shot-stopping ability at Lyon, keeping 10 clean sheets in 33 Ligue 1 games and preventing 3.8 goals above expected, showcasing reliability in high-pressure situations.
His 6ft 5in frame, reflexes, and distribution skills, praised by Lyon’s Paulo Fonseca, align with Daniel Farke’s need for a commanding No. 1 to replace Illan Meslier.
Zentner, while solid at Mainz with 7.2 goals prevented last season, has a less consistent track record, underperforming xG in prior years.
Perri’s price tag, aided by Lyon’s financial woes, offers value and his experience in Brazil’s Serie A and Ligue 1 edges out Zentner’s Bundesliga tenure.
Perri’s potential for growth and adaptability make him the ideal choice to solidify Leeds’ defence.
