Leeds United are closing in on goalkeeper Lucas Perri ahead of the new Premier League season.

A new keeper has been a top priority at Elland Road, given Illan Meslier’s inconsistent form last season.

Multiple stars have been linked to the Peacocks, but it now appears that Lyon goalkeeper Perri will now move to Leeds.

The Brazilian has heavily impressed in Ligue 1, and will now be looking to continue this form in the Premier League.

Leeds aim to get Lucas Perri deal done by Sunday

A medical for Perri is set to take place in Germany as Daniel Farke closes in on his seventh summer signing.

Leeds are not wasting time with the deal, with there now being a big hope that the Peacocks can field the goalkeeper in multiple upcoming friendlies.

A report from The Athletic (24 July) states that a private flight is scheduled to arrive near Leeds’ Germany training camp from Lyon on Thursday evening.

If all goes well, there is a hope that Perri will feature in Leeds’ behind-closed-doors friendly on Sunday.

If not, there is next weekend’s Elland Road clash with Villarreal.

Perri could be an inspired signing for Leeds

In Europe’s top five leagues, there have been few goalkeepers who have impressed more than Perri over the past year.

The Brazilian kept 10 clean sheets in Ligue 1 last season, only conceding 44 goals in 33 matches.

With a good keeper being vital in the battle for Premier League survival, Perri could prove to be an inspired signing for Leeds.
