Leeds United eye move for Freiburg teenager Bruno Ogbus, face Premier League competition

Leeds United are interested in making a push to sign Freiburg teenage defender Bruno Ogbus, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany reporter posted on X (6 August) that Leeds, alongside Premier League side Nottingham Forest, want to sign the Switzerland age-grade international.

However, Freiburg have reportedly made it clear that he’s not for sale.

It comes as the club continues to ramp up their search for new signings ahead of the new campaign [Alan Nixon, 6 August].

Leeds United aim big with latest transfer link

After missing out on promotion in the play-off final back in May, Leeds fans have tried to remain optimistic of another promotion push this term.

Even in losing Crysencio Summerville, the club have been able to dust themselves off and get back in the hunt for fresh, exciting wingers – albeit no replacement has actually been signed yet.

Alas, it’s never too early to think about the future, and that’s what Ogbus represents. The teenage sensation has a lot of years left to develop but the club needs strength in depth.

Luke Ayling, Ian Poveda, Robin Koch and Jamie Shackleton are all names that have departed. Plus, Liam Cooper may not be too far behind.

It’s not a case of thrusting Ogbus into the fire – far from it. What it will do, though, is allow him to learn from more senior players at a quicker rate than he perhaps would elsewhere.

It’s going to be a big step up from what he’s done in the past, but it’s an intriguing, calculated move from Farke. Now it’s over to the club to pull off the deal.
