Leeds United eye Bobby Decordova-Reid summer transfer as Fulham exit looms

Leeds United are hoping to sign Bobby Decordova-Reid on a free transfer, according to TEAMtalk.

The report on 5 June states that contract negotiations have stalled between Fulham and the 31-year-old, meaning he will be available for nothing this summer.

Everton are also thought to be interested, while Leeds see the forward as a possible replacement should stars such as Crysencio Summerville and Wilfried Gnonto be sold.

Would Bobby Decordova-Reid be a good signing for Leeds United?

Decordova-Reid scored six Premier League goals in 1,424 minutes in the competitions in 2023-24, as well as recording two assists.

That scoring rate, given his limited minutes, works out at an impressive 0.38 per 90 [FotMob].

The forward also won a respectable 0.82 aerial duels per 90 in the league last season.

However, he lacks the direct dribbling qualities of players like Summerville and Gnonto, managing just 0.51 successful dribbles per 90, while his 0.38 possessions won per game on average also suggests an increase in work-rate would be required to make him a good fit for Daniel Farke’s system.

A reliable finisher on a free transfer can be no bad thing, but Farke and the Whites will have to keep looking if they are to adequately replace their young wide men – assuming one or both are indeed sold this summer to help Leeds balance their books and remain on the right side of spending rules.
