Leeds United deal for new signing starts to fail on Deadline Day, transfer unlikely

Leeds United are now unlikely to sign Roland Sallai on transfer deadline day, Sacha Tavolieri has said.

The Belgian journalist reported on his official X account (30 August) that sources are “pessimistic” that an agreement can be found with Freiburg for the versatile attacker.

He added that it is now a case of “wait and see” as the two clubs struggle to find an agreement over a move.

Leeds United to suffer Roland Sallai blow on transfer deadline day?

It has been an extremely busy end to the transfer window as Leeds look to bolster their squad to boost their title aspirations in the Championship this season.

Largie Ramizani and Manor Solomon are already in the door at Elland Road, while Ao Tanaka has had a medical (Yorkshire Evening Post) at looks certain to join from Fortuna Dusseldorf.

They had hoped to bring Hungary international Sallai into the club as well (Ben Jacobs) and his ability to play on the right wing or in a more central attacking position would have been hugely beneficial

As it is, though, it looks like they are about to suffer a blow in that particularly pursuit, meaning it could be back to the drawing board in a bid to add further attacking reinforcement.

Things move extremely quickly on deadline day, though, so keep your eyes peeled on this one as Leeds might be able to convince the Bundesliga outfit to sell later in the day.

In other Leeds United news, another player is set for a medical after Tanaka as deadline day heats up.
