Leeds United will sign Isaac Schmidt after Ao Tanaka on Transfer Deadline Day and could go further before the deadline, Graham Smyth reports.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post journalist for the paper's website on 30 August the FC St Gallen full-back is set to fly in the same morning for his medical and complete the paperwork ahead of his move.

The versatile 24-year-old is seen as primarily a left-back but will provide cover on both sides for Junior Firpo, Jayden Bogle and Sam Byram.

He played a final game for his former club on Thursday night where he scored in a Europa Conference League qualifier against Trabzonspor.

After the full-back and Japanese midfielder Tanaka Leeds United chiefs are said to be "hopeful" of a third signing inside the deadline at 11pm, with offensive positions in mind.

Leeds United have wrapped up a deal for Ao Tanaka already

Tanaka is done and set to be announced at midday [YEP, 30 August], while it sounds like there are no concerns about Schmidt joining him.

It may have been risky for him to feature for his club just hours before he moves to Elland Road, so Daniel Farke will be hoping there are no ill effects from the game on display during the medical.

There appears to be a good chance that the third attacking addition proves to be Roland Sallai with the club "pushing hard" to sign him from Freiberg, according to Sacha Tavolieri on 29 August.

The Hungarian international winger is believed to be keen to join Farke's side and has entered the final year of his contract in Germany so a cut-price deal may be possible [HITC, 29 August].

A striker to back-up Mateo Joseph would have likely been on the wish lists of some fans, with Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe currently struggling to do so through a combination of fitness and form.

But if the Whites get three men in before the deadline and strengthen in defence, midfield and attack they will likely be quite satisfied with their work.
