Leeds United block Alfie Cresswell exit as Thorp Arch update emerges on deadline day

Leeds United have seemingly been more focused on their outgoings rather than their incomings towards the end of the transfer window.

Largie Ramazani completed his loan move to Valencia, whilst Isaac Schmidt also joined Werder Bremen.

Daniel Farke will be hopeful of bringing some fresh faces to Elland Road before 7pm, but Gus Hamer does not look likely to be one of them.

Whilst Hamer probably won’t be making the move to Elland Road, one player who looks set to stay put in West Yorkshire is Alfie Cresswell.

Alfie Cresswell set to remain at Thorp Arch after EFL interest

Alfie, 18, is the brother of Charlie Cresswell, who left Leeds last summer to join Toulouse.

Whilst Charlie is currently impressing out in France, Alfie is captain of United’s under-21 side.

According to Adam Pope on 1 September, League Two outfit Shrewsbury Town have shown interest in taking the teenager on loan, but Cresswell is set to stay put at Thorp Arch rather than joining the EFL club on loan.

A player who is close to leaving Leeds, however, is midfielder Darko Gyabi, who is on the verge of joining Hull City in a permanent deal.

Time is ticking for the 49ers

Aside from the links to Eduard Spertsyan, there is alarmingly little when it comes to potential incomings for the Whites.

Leeds could launch a last-minute move for Emi Buendia from Aston Villa, with the Argentine being perpetually linked with United.

However, time is now ticking for the 49ers, who seem to have backed themselves into a corner by leaving themselves with such little time to operate.

Whilst Farke was on record saying he wants two more attacking arrivals following the signing of Noah Okafor, only time will tell if the 49ers can meet their manager’s demands.
