Emi Buendia is a name that refuses to go away at Leeds United.

Daniel Farke helped the Argentine international make a name for himself in England with Norwich before he secured a huge-money move to Aston Villa.

Leeds are struggling on deadline day, with attacking reinforcements desperately needed before the 7 pm deadline in the Premier League.

Aston Villa may have just opened the door to Buendia, though.

Leeds ready late transfer for Emi Buendia

The Times has reported in its live blog on 1 September that Aston Villa are pushing to sign Liverpool star Harvey Elliott, but must navigate their financial concerns.

It is suggested that Buendia may need to be sold first, with Leeds interested.

With hours left in the window, it is not disclosed whether it would be a loan or a permanent move.

Buendia to Leeds United makes total sense

Buendia would tick many boxes in West Yorkshire.

Leeds have looked defensively solid when keeping clean sheets against Newcastle and Everton, but they massively struggled in the final third in both of those.

Farke switching to a more defensive midfield three has had its benefits, but Buendia coming in to sit ahead of two holding players could be perfect.

  • Buendia appearances under Farke - 121
  • Goals and assists under Farke - 65

Buendia has played under Farke the most in his career, and by a considerable distance, with only 48 appearances under Unai Emery second on the list.

Injuries are a worry for Buendia, but you could say that for many of Leeds' new signings this summer, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Noah Okafor the same.

After an underwhelming start to deadline day, Leeds fans would nearly take anybody at this stage, but Buendia will need to massively prove himself if he is signed.
