Leeds United backed to make Max Wober exit decision on one condition
Leeds United could still drop their valuation of Max Wober amid transfer links with Borussia Monchengladbach, according to Joe Donnohue.
The German club are currently not able to afford a deal to bring the Austria international to Germany permanently, with reports suggesting the Whites are holding out for offers between £8.5million and £10million [Kicker, 29 May].
While Daniel Farke has suggested Wober is keen to remain at Elland Road, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Donnohue believes Leeds could drop their asking price if they manage to line up a replacement.
Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast (8 August, 42:20) he said: “We just have to wait and see with that one.
“I think there’s still the possibility that either Leeds’ asking price comes down ever so slightly if they have a replacement lined up, obviously a cheaper replacement.
“Or Monchengladbach go, you know what, we did have £10million all along and they do just pay it.”
Will Max Wober exit Leeds United amid Borussia Monchengladbach transfer rumours?
Leeds United almost face a bit of a win-win situation when it comes to Wober’s future at Elland Road between now and the end of the summer transfer window.
If he stays in Yorkshire as is expected, the Whites will have an excellent and versatile defender to call upon week in and week out which will massively boost their chances of winning promotion back to the Premier League.

Should he depart, Farke will have more money to spend on incomings between now and the end of August which could provide Leeds with the added quality to book their place in the top two of the Championship.
On the face of it, there is little reason for the Whites to drop their valuation. However, should a replacement be identified, those in power at Elland Road may believe getting Wober’s wage off of the books to be a boost.
It will be interesting to see whether Leeds or Monchengladbach blink first between now and the end of August.
