Leeds United backed to land Anton Stach 2.0 this month as player eyes move

Anton Stach has been a superb signing for Leeds United and is having a big impact on their Premier League survival push.

Leeds brought in Stach from Hoffenheim for a fee of around £17million over the summer as they looked to reinforce their midfield ranks.

The 27-year-old has quickly developed into one of the first names on Daniel Farke’s teamsheet, scoring three goals and grabbing two assists in 19 Premier League appearances this season.

The Whites are now looking to repeat the trick in the January transfer window as they set their sights on the Bundesliga once again.

Leeds can repeat Anton Stach trick with Danilho Doekhi

Leeds have been repeatedly linked with Union Berlin centre-back Danilho Doekhi over the past few weeks.

Farke’s side switched to a back three at the start of December, which triggered their dramatic upturn in form.

The West Yorkshire outfit are now eight points clear of the Premier League relegation, and looking good to avoid an immediate return to the Championship.

Doekhi is very adept at playing in a three, having done so since his arrival at Union Berlin in 2022, so he would slot in nicely to Leeds’ new system.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Monday, European football expert Kevin Hatchard highlighted the Whites’ success in the German market over the summer.

Hatchard said: “[Doekhi] is somebody that’s used to playing in a back three and Leeds have had a load of success recently switching to that back three.

“He’s a set-piece threat, brilliant in the air, great leader, good experience.

“They’ve brought in players like Anton Stach from German football. Stach has been a huge hit, done really really well. I think Doekhi could slot in really nicely.”

Daniel Farke sets deadline on Doekhi deal

Doekhi is out of contract in the summer, meaning that the January window is the last chance for Union Berlin to cash in on the 27-year-old.

The defender has played 16 Bundesliga games so far this season, and already has four goals to his name.

There doesn’t seem to be much chance of a new deal in Germany though, as Doekhi wants to leave Union Berlin by the summer at the very latest.

However, Leeds could try to move for him this month and sign him for a cut-price fee with his contract running down.
