Leeds United are yet to kick their January transfer window into action.

Leeds have well-documented issues with PSR, but they do have space to complete several signings with loans and other savvy agreements.

Danilho Doekhi is one target at Leeds, with the Union Berlin centre-back out of contract in Germany at the end of this season.

Well, the door may have just opened for him to arrive at Elland Road much earlier.

Danilho Doekhi door wide open for Elland Road switch

Leeds have lined up a January deal for Doekhi, but this should only confirm that.

With Union Berlin seemingly already moving on, Doekhi could add much-needed depth at the back for a cut-price fee, given his contract situation.

The Bundesliga club have an agreement with Zeno Van Den Bosch from Royal Antwerp, according to Florian Plettenberg.

It is said that a medical could take place next, with advanced negotiations underway over a final fee with the Belgian club.

That unlocks Doekhi to make the move to Leeds.

Doekhi ready for the Premier League

After several huge years with Union Berlin, Doekhi is surely ready for his next step.

Brenden Aaronson played alongside him during his one-year loan in Germany, with Champions League football secured during his run at the back.

Sebastiaan Bornauw already has question marks surrounding his future, despite playing more regularly in recent weeks at Elland Road.

All it takes is one injury, and the door opens for a prolonged period, as shown by Joe Rodon.

Doekhi would bring great pedigree at the back for Leeds, and only confirm that Farke is going to stick and try to evolve his new three-at-the-back formation.

With three weeks left to go before the 2 February deadline, it appears that Doekhi could be the first concrete target of Adam Underwood.

It's time to get it done.
