Leeds United agree compromise deal to sign Mateo Joseph, will join on January 1st

Leeds United have finally agreed a compromise deal to sign Espanyol sensation Mateo Joseph, according to Daily Mail.

The newspaper has reported on their website that the Whites initially offered £420,000, but were forced to increase that and have agreed to do so.

It is suggested that the Whites have beaten fierce competition from the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Liverpool to his signature.

Everything is now in place.

Joseph is expected to officially complete his move to Elland Road on the 1st of January once the winter window opens.

Whether it will be announced then, is unknown, but it looks as though everything is in place for that to happen.

It was reported weeks ago that Joseph had returned to Santander from Espanyol waiting to complete the move to West Yorkshire.

After rejecting a new deal with the La Liga club, he was said to have been frozen out, meaning a move was always inevitable and likely why Leeds played less than his £1.3million release clause.

Brilliant.

Joe Gelhardt hasn’t been available every week for Mark Jackson and the under-23s due to his first-team commitments, and that has seen their form slip.

With Joseph now arriving at the club in just over three weeks time, the academy should have a talisman to call upon every single week.

After scoring a hat-trick against Barcelona last season, the young sensation clearly has an eye for goal and he will be needed by the under-23s.

Victor Orta is once again proving his worth to the club, pulling in a top talent from Spain despite the huge clubs that were also interested.

We already can’t wait to see him get stuck in, bring it on.
