Leeds transfer shortlist revealed after latest Harry Wilson setback - Aston Villa man in the mix
Leeds United's interest in Harry Wilson looks unlikely to lead to anything, after Fulham issued them with a stern hands-off warning.
Leeds tried to sign Wilson in a last-minute deal on transfer deadline day, but couldn't get the deal over the line.
It was reported that the Whites were preparing to bid for the Wales midfielder again in January, but Fulham manager Marco Silva has made it clear that he will not sell Wilson.
It now seems as if Leeds will search elsewhere for a playmaker, and they have been linked with several stars playing in England and overseas.
Below, MOT Leeds News lists four midfielders that Daniel Farke could try to sign in the January transfer window.
Lorenzo Pellegrini
News reports from Italy have suggested that Lorenzo Pellegrini wants to leave AS Roma and Leeds are interested in signing him.
The Italian midfielder has played for the Giallorossi since 2017, but his contract expires this summer and Roma won't want to lose him for free.
He could therefore be available for a cut-price fee in January.
Emiliano Buendia
Aston Villa playmaker Emiliano Buendia was a target for Leeds this summer.
The Argentine has fallen down the pecking order at Villa Park, and it seemed as if Unai Emery was comfortable selling him.
However, the 28-year-old never managed to agree a transfer before the window closed.
He's started two games for Villa this season, but there's every chance that he could be available to sign this January.
Gus Hamer
Gus Hamer was named the Championship's player of the season in 2024/25, helping Sheffield United to reach the playoff final with 10 goals and eight assists.
Unfortuntely for him, they lost to Sunderland in that match and the Blades have been atrocious last season.
Hamer has featured in every Championship game for Sheffield United this season, but they've lost all of them.
The Dutchman must be desperate to get out of Bramall Lane, and Leeds are reportedly keen on signing Hamer.
Piotr Zielinski
Piotr Zielinski is a Polish international currently plying his trade at Inter Milan. He's another player who supposedly wants a move, with ASromalive.it reporting that he's on Leeds shortlist.
Zielinski plays slightly deeper in midfield than the other players mentioned, but has proven he's capable of creating goals at the highest level.
