Leeds threaten C'ship rivals who are in pole position to sign centre-forward - report
Leeds United pose a threat to Swansea in their effort to sign Liverpool centre-forward Rhian Brewster on loan this month, according to WalesOnline.
The news outlet claims that the Swans are currently in pole position to sign the 19-year-old striker, who is also attracting attention from Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday.
It is understood that Swansea have held talks about signing Brewster on loan but the England Under-21 international is still set to meet with one more club before a final decision is made on where he will play for the rest of the season.
Swansea manager Steve Cooper has previously worked with Brewster when he was in charge of the England Under-17s and that could be what has proven handy in the Welsh side’s bid to land the striker.
However WalesOnline adds that the young striker could be tempted by the possibility of staying in the north of England, which would suit Leeds.
Marcelo Bielsa needs to find a new striker as soon as he can now that Eddie Nketiah has been recalled by Arsenal.
But the fact that Nketiah only started two Championship games for the Whites could see Liverpool be reluctant to loaning Brewster to Elland Road.
It remains to be seen how the race for the striker’s signature will go but Leeds cannot be in much of a commanding position based on how Nketiah’s loan went and that Liverpool will want Brewster to play as much as possible.
In other Leeds United news, Victor Orta may need a rethink after this update on one of his targets.
