Leeds scheduled Bilal El Khannouss meeting as Leicester star decides on Elland Road

Leeds United’s efforts to sign Leicester star Bilal El Khannouss may not be in vain after all.

The Whites may have had to look for alternatives as they are not the only Premier League side with interest in the attacking midfielder.

The Morocco international notched two goals and three assists for the Foxes last season in the top-flight, but there is a sense that he is destined for higher things.

El Khannouss update emerges as Leeds face competition

Europa League champions Tottenham are reportedly keen on hijacking the Elland Road outfit’s pursuit of the Leicester star.

Sky Sports journalist Sacha Tavolieri (6 August) claims that playing in Europe would not be decisive in El Khannouss’ choice.

He states that the Whites will meet with the player in the coming days, with Crystal Palace also interested.

Leeds can offer El Khannous a starring role

One thing that the LS11 outfit can offer that their rivals for his signature cannot, is the chance to be a key player who starts every week.

Brenden Aaronson was less than convincing in his last stint in the top division, and there is little evidence to suggest that he can improve on those levels in his second stint at the elite level.

El Khannouss, on the other hand, at just 21 years old, represents exactly the kind of additions that Farke’s side should be making for their return to the top division.

Young, ambitious and with the potential to become a star, it could end up being a major coup for the 49ers and Co. if they can nab his signature and he thrives for the Peacocks.

The likes of Spurs and Palace may be able to offer a higher standard in terms of squad and facilities, but the Whites can give him regular minutes, a starring role, rather than a bit-part one.

That may be crucial in tempting the 22-cap international to make the move to Leeds rather than opting to make the switch to a higher-reputation side, where he will not feature as prominently.
