Leeds rising star agrees new contract as personal terms finalised at Thorp Arch
Leeds United have confirmed that young left-back Louie Philpott has agreed a new deal at the club.
Philpott, 17, broke into the Leeds Under-21s side last season and has managed to retain his spot in Scott Gardner's plans in the opening weeks of the 2026-27 campaign.
Although his first Premier League 2 game of the season resulted in a sending-off in a 4-3 win over West Brom's U21s, Philpott has still done enough to earn a new and improved deal at Elland Road.
In an announcement on Tuesday, it was confirmed that the teenager has signed his first professional contract.
It's a two-year deal that will see him continue his development at the Thorp Arch academy until the summer of 2028.
He's clearly made an impression in the youth set-up, but what's next for Philpott?

Despite playing at a higher level than his age suggests, it might be some time before Philpott is able to star in the Leeds United first team.
He could get a chance in the FA Cup if Leeds draw a lower-league side in January, however, the opportunities right now are looking very limited.
Gabriel Gudmundsson and Melvin Bard will challenge one another for the starting berth at left-back in the Premier League and cup competitions.
If one of them gets injured, Farke has a back-up option in James Justin, while Joe Rodon can also play in the full-back role.
If Farke then wants to dip into the U21s squad to look at left-backs, he's got Jayden Lineou to choose.
Although he's only 18, he's been called up by Wales already and has featured in several matchday squads for the Leeds senior side, without making a debut.
So for Philpott, he's not got a chance just yet. But again, he's only 17.
What has Philpott said about his new deal?
It's fair to say that Philpott is happy with his professional contract.
Speaking to Leeds' official website about the news, the youngster made it clear that he knows the hardest work is ahead of him after making the step up from the U18s to the U21s.
“It feels really good,” he said. “It is what I have been working toward for all the time I have been here. This is just the first step in my professional journey and hopefully there will be many more to come.
“I have been here for eight years now and it has just been about building every year, even from young. Just hard work every year getting to where I am now and thank you to all the coaches and my family for helping me get here.
“U21s football is much more physical than the U18s. You have got to be sharp with your passing and just everything overall but it has been a good challenge."
