Leeds move for Todd Cantwell would leave Andrea Radrizzani delighted – report

Leeds United have once again been linked with a move for Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell this week.

It has been suggested by Leeds Live that the playmaker could eventually make the move to Elland Road for free.

Cantwell is currently in the final year of his contract with the Canaries, who do have the option to extend that by one more year.

Leeds Live have shared in one of their latest reports that a move for Cantwell would leave Andrea Radrizzani delighted.

“The Whites would be free to to negotiate terms with Cantwell as the final months of his contract run down, however, Norwich do have an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months – to the summer of 2023,” they wrote.

“If Bielsa’s side were to sign the Three Lions youth international, it would coincide with Andrea Radrizzani’s long-term plan for the club moving forward.”

Long-term plan.

It is confusing at this current moment in time what exactly the long-term plan of Radrizzani is at Elland Road.

Bringing in younger players for the academy and watching them grow into valid options for the first-team will be a big part of it, but Cantwell would expect regular senior football.

The San Francisco 49ers are also expected to drop more investment in the club this season, with Phil Hay sharing if it doesn’t come now, it will next summer.

That could make them majority investors in the club, so Radrizzani’s master plan may be taken over by the 49ers and Paraag Marathe, who may have other plans in place.

Norwich are very likely to utilise their clause to tie Cantwell down for another year at Carrow Road, but could relegation make the midfielder consider his options? Time will tell.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this midfield star with one club already set for a January agreement
