Leeds United have shown a real interest in signing Blackburn Rovers midfielder Joe Rothwell in recent months.

That's according to TEAMtalk, who suggest that the 26-year-old is set to seal an agreement to join Rangers in the January window.

Numerous Premier League clubs have shown interest alongside the Whites, with Newcastle, Burnley, Southampton, Brighton and Crystal Palace all mentioned.

It looks as though it will be Scotland for Rothwell's next move, though.

The former Manchester United talent is in the final year of his contract at Ewood Park, and that heavily swings the ball into the court of Steven Gerrard.

Rangers can open talks on a pre-contract agreement in January, with English clubs not able to do the same until the summer.

Rothwell appears to have made his mind up for his next move though, and it looks as though Ibrox will be his destination - not Elland Road.

Midfield, again.

After Ross Barkley was linked with a move to West Yorkshire yesterday, we are certain that there will be many more midfield names mentioned over the next two months.

Lewis O'Brien is another Championship name that was strongly linked, and it looks as though Victor Orta is looking for bargains to reinforce the middle of the park.

Rothwell has been ever-present for Blackburn this season despite his contract coming to an end soon, starting all 12 games in the Championship.

Tony Mowbray has already tipped the midfielder for the Premier League this season, labelling him as "amazing".

It looks as though it will be the Scottish Premiership though, and the Whites will need to look elsewhere for midfield reinforcements yet again.
