Leeds make approach to sign Ruben Vargas, £8.7m bid lined up for January swoop
Leeds United are one of the teams showing the most interest in Sevilla forward Ruben Vargas ahead of the winter transfer window.
The Whites have already enquired about the Switzerland international’s future at the Spanish club, with his situation currently uncertain.
Sevilla are expecting an offer from Elland Road for Vargas, with claims that the West Yorkshire outfit were ready to pay £17.5million for him.
Daniel Farke is expected to be hampered by the Profitability and Sustainability Rules, and as such, they may have received a boost in their hopes to get the 27-year-old winger.

Sevilla ready to accept cut-price fee for Leeds United target Ruben Vargas
Sevilla valued Vargas at £13m in the summer, but are now willing to lower their demands, according to ABC.
The news outlet reports on 28 December that the Whites and other Premier League teams are considering an offer of around £8.7m for the forward, and a deal could be finalised at a lower fee.
However, it’s been claimed that selling the Swiss attacker isn’t a priority for the LaLiga outfit, and the player will only leave if an offer meets his financial and sporting demands.
Sevilla paid around £2.1m to sign Vargas from FC Augsburg in January 2025, but he could leave a year into his stay at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium.
OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi is also being linked with a move to Elland Road, and it will be interesting to see whether the West Yorkshire outfit end up bolstering their attack in January.
Daniel Farke transfer concerns subside at Elland Road after latest development
Lukas Nmecha returned to the bench against Sunderland, with the German forward coming on as a substitute in the 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light on 28 December.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin ensured Leeds secured a point in Wearside, with Farke starting to turn things around in LS11.
| Player | Matches played | Goals |
| Dominic Calvert-Lewin | 16 | 8 |
| Lukas Nmecha | 15 | 4 |
| Anton Stach | 16 | 3 |
Noah Okafor has done well in the absence of Nmecha from the starting lineup, but the former VfL Wolfsburg star’s return will surely be a massive boost for the German manager at Elland Road.
The 27-year-old centre-forward has formed a decent partnership with Calvert-Lewin, and Vargas’ signing might not really be a priority for the Whites as things stand.
