Leeds United are in talks with Brest over a deal to sign left-back Romain Perraud at the end of the season, according to Le10Sport.
The French news outlet claims that Leeds – and Southampton – have both been in touch with the 23-year-old’s representatives as well as his club Brest, who are 13th in Ligue 1.
Perraud has recently extended his contract at Brest until 2025 but that has not quelled interest from Premier League club with the left-back impressing in France’s top-flight.
New left-back top of the menu for summer?
Leeds have already been linked with Marseille’s Jordan Amavi this month [Foot01] so it seems as though the French media are getting the feeling Marcelo Bielsa wants a new left-back at the end of the season.
Perraud is one of the leading left-backs in Ligue 1 this season.
According to stats by WhoScored, no defender has assisted more goals than Perraud in Ligue 1 this term , with the Frenchman creating goals from four crosses, which is only beaten by Marseille winger Florian Thauvan .
Perraud has also scored three goals in the French top-flight in his 20 appearances and only one defender has managed mored.
He’s clearly an attacking threat and one that Bielsa might be able to get a lot out of next season if he was to be snapped up in the summer.
Stuart Dallas and Ezgjan Alioski have played at left-back for Leeds this season while Bielsa also has youngster Leif Davis to choose from.
Only Davis is a natural left-back really, with Dallas and Alioski spending the bulk of their careers playing as wingers.
It would be good if Bielsa can get a natural in the left-back position in the summer because Alioski has been found out a few times this season in the Premier League.
Perraud seems at home in one of Europe’s top leagues so to get him in could be good business.
In other Leeds United news, Bielsa has responded to speculation that a player has agreed to quit Elland Road.
