Leeds in hunt to sign £15m-rated Nottingham Forest player – reports
Leeds United are one of the clubs who are in pursuit of Nottingham Forest right-back Matty Cash, according to the Sheffield Star.
The Yorkshire newspaper claims that Sheffield United are keen on signing the 23-year-old and have already tabled a £10million bid for him.
However, Sky Sports have recently reported that Forest value Cash at £15million after an impressive season by him in the Championship.
The Sheffield Star now claims that Chris Wilder is not the only one interested in acquiring the former Wycombe player with Leeds, Aston Villa and AC Milan also in the hunt for his signature.
Cash made 45 appearances in all competitions last season as Nottingham Forest finished seventh in the Championship table, scoring three goals and supplying five assists in the process.
Before last season, Cash was mainly seen as a right-sided winger but Sabri Lamouchi managed to get a lot out of the Slough-born player at right-back as the Reds almost finished in the play-off places.
Even though he can play anywhere down the right-wing and would fit in with what Marcelo Bielsa wants in a right-back, we can’t see why the Whites would want to spend so much on strengthening that position.
Luke Ayling was brilliant for Leeds last term as they won promotion to the Premier League while the Daily Mail has reported that the club is close to signing Fulham right-back Cody Drameh with the view to him being in Bielsa’s first-team.
Cash would become a third right-back option while the right-wing area is also well stocked with Helder Costa, Stuart Dallas, Ian Poveda, Tyler Roberts and Pablo Hernandez all capable of playing there.
As good a player he is, he simply isn’t needed at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, a Leeds-linked player has started following the club on Instagram amid speculation.
