Leeds contacted over deal to sign striker loved by Marcelo Bielsa
Daniel Farke is ready to turn his attention to the summer transfer window after securing promotion to the Premier League with Leeds United.
Becoming a top-flight side is only the start of the 49ers plans with the Whites, with top-flight stability now the key aim.
Farke knows the importance of adding to his side and ensuring that there is the right experience throughout the squad to compete at the top levels.

Leeds United contacted over Jamie Vardy deal
One area where Leeds need to add to their side is at the top end of the pitch.
Although Joel Piroe ended the season as the Championship’s golden boot winner, he did not break the 20 mark and, instead, won the award with 19 goals.
He was boosted by four goals on Easter Monday as his side won the title, having been without a goal in the nine games prior, suggesting a strong alternative is necessary.
However, that is unlikely to come in the form of Mateo Joseph, who has been linked with a move away this summer.
Patrick Bamford is clearly past his best and is set to leave Elland Road too, leaving Farke needing to look externally for reinforcements.
One man who has been mooted as a potential problem solver is Jamie Vardy and Graeme Bailey has told LeedsUnited.News (9 May) that the Whites have been contacted over a deal.

Leeds could sign Marcelo Bielsa favourite
Vardy may not have registered his best numbers in the Premier League with Leicester City this term, although he was competing in a struggling side.
Season | League | Goals |
2024/25 | Premier League | 8 |
2023/24 | Championship | 18 |
2022/23 | Premier League | 3 |
2021/22 | Premier League | 15 |
2020/21 | Premier League | 15 |
Former Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa made no secret of his admiration for the striker during his spell in West Yorkshire and, as he crucially pointed out, he “scores lots of goals.”
These quotes from Bielsa were said back in 2020, which is worth remembering when Leeds fans consider this deal.
At 38 years of age, he is not going to be the same player, especially having played in weaker Leicester sides as the years have progressed.
But if you put Vardy back in a solid side that is looking upwards, there is still the feeling that he could certainly do a solid job and give the Whites that other option.
Farke doesn’t need to rush and the fact that his side have been contacted shows there is interest from the player, but if the market doesn’t throw up too many other options, Leeds could certainly do worse than this.
