Leeds and Gabriel Sara talks details emerge after Champions League masterclass
Leeds did not do much business in the winter window, but they did reportedly look into capturing midfielder Gabriel Sara.
Sara had been linked with the Premier League side heading into the winter window, but once it opened, those lines of inquiry had seemingly gone quiet.
The links to the former Norwich City player had seemed odd, considering Leeds’ history with Galatasaray.
However, according to Fotospor in Turkey, Leeds did in fact hold talks with Sara and Galatasaray over a potential move for the Brazilian in the most recent transfer window.
The 26-year-old nor the Istanbul club found the offers to be acceptable in order to push the deal further.
The Whites were not the only Premier League side interested, as Sunderland also enquired about the midfielder.
Officials at Elland Road would certainly have been kicking themselves about Sara after the recent bout of Champions League fixtures.
Gabriel Sara showed Leeds what they missed out on in the Champions League
With Leeds and Sunderland failing to convince both Sara and Galatasaray to let go of the midfielder, the Brazilian ultimately stayed at the Yellow and Reds.
That decision has now paid off, as the 26-year-old shone on the European stage.
Just this week, the former Norwich City man produced a masterclass in the Champions League against Juventus, as he was voted the Man of the Match in his side’s 5-2 win.
The Leeds target scored a goal and got an assist in the shock win at RAMS Park.
However, it was his overall performance that should be credited rather than those two goal contributions.
The Brazilian ran the show against the Old Lady, who struggled to hold onto the ball due to the pressure the Turkish club was putting them under.
Sara has certainly proved that he is full of quality and would have been an excellent addition for Daniel Farke.

Could Leeds move again for Sara in the summer?
If Leeds are still interested in signing Sara, then a move in the summer could certainly happen. However, it remains to be seen how open the Whites are to doing business with Galatasaray.
If they can confirm themselves as a Premier League club next season, then Leeds’ owners will have more money to work with in the summer.
Farke has proven himself as a head coach who can be successful at the Peacocks after turning this season around back in November.
With proper backing and funding from the higher-ups, the LS11 outfit could find themselves higher up the table rather than battling at the bottom.
