Lazio in pole position to sign Leeds star who’s ‘ended relationship’ at Elland Road

Daniel Farke is preparing his squad for the Premier League, with departures as well as signings expected.

Despite Leeds United’s imminent return to the English top-flight, this has not guaranteed that all of their stars will stay this summer.

Star man Ao Tanaka has been linked with a Leeds exit after he dominated the Championship this season.

On top of this, Tottenham are now set to keep Manor Solomon after his successful loan spell at Elland Road.

However, the departures do not stop there this summer.

Real Betis and Lazio set to battle for Junior Firpo

Junior Firpo’s contract is set to expire at the end of June, with the full-back attracting plenty of suitors.

The Spaniard had a successful campaign at Elland Road, and Firpo was named in the Championship Team of the Season for his displays.

Therefore, it is no surprise that multiple clubs are looking to sign the full-back on a free this summer.

According to Diario de Sevilla, page 42 (10 June), Lazio are currently in pole position to sign the 28-year-old.

The report states that Firpo is now available after “ending his relationship with Leeds United”.

The Dominican Republic international has been in contact with the Italian side for weeks.

However, Firpo could also move to Real Betis, with the full-back attracted to the prospect of joining his former club.

Leeds must bring in experienced Premier League full-back to replace Firpo

With Firpo’s exit looking extremely likely this summer, Leeds must ensure that they bring in an experienced replacement at Elland Road.

Staying in the Premier League is going to be a tough task, and the Peacocks cannot throw anyone into this role.

Leeds have been linked with Vladimir Coufal, who was recently released by West Ham.

The Czech would be an ideal replacement for Firpo, and a player Farke should consider.
