Kiko Casilla absent from Leeds United preseason training

Kiko Casilla could leave Leeds United this summer with the goalkeeper absent from pre-season training, according to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth.

Writing on the YEP website, Smyth reports that Casilla, 33, was not present when the majority of the Leeds squad reported for pre-season training last Thursday.

It is understood that Casilla “must decide” if he’s happy to continue serving as Marcelo Bielsa’s second-choice goalkeeper after a stunning debut campaign in the Premier League by Illan Meslier.

However, Casilla still has two years left on his contract with is worth over £30,000-a-week [Football Insider].

Get him gone, now

For anyone who reads this website regularly, you’ll know what our thoughts are about Casilla.

He has been a Leeds player for far too long and should have been sacked as soon as he was banned for racially abusing an opposition player.

If the racism incident wasn’t enough then it’s baffling that his performances on the pitch haven’t been.

Casilla has been an absolute liability and all you need to do is look at his performance in the FA Cup defeat to Crawley last season to realise just how awful he has been in goals for the Whites.

Leeds are throwing cash down the drain every week Casilla is still at Elland Road and getting rid of him this summer is an absolute no-brainer.

Marcelo Bielsa has done a lot of wonderful work at Elland Road and in our eyes, he will go down as a club legend.

But the way he’s gone about keeping Casilla, playing him in matches and handing him the captain’s armband on one occasion is a major blot on what has otherwise been a sparkling spell in West Yorkshire.

Get him gone, for everyone’s sake.
