Kelleher tells Liverpool he wants out amid £20m+ Leeds transfer reveal

Leeds continue to be linked with Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.

Daniel Farke is desperate to add Premier League-proven talent to his squad, especially between the sticks as Illan Meslier has failed to impress.

The Frenchman lost his place in the starting line-up at Elland Road after a number of high-profile errors that nearly cost the Whites promotion to the top-flight.

A new development could allow the Yorkshire outfit to sign the Republic of Ireland international stopper.

Leeds target Kelleher wants to leave Liverpool

Leeds have been handed a boost in their pursuit of the Reds star, after a recent exit admission was made.

A report from the Liverpool Echo (28 May) claims that the Premier League champions would be willing to listen to offers over the £20million mark.

It states that the title-winning keeper would like to leave to secure regular first-team football away from Anfield, where he has struggled to overhaul Alisson.

Speaking after the Reds lifted the title after the clash with Crystal Palace (25 May), Kelleher told Optus Sport: “I think I’ve said it before as well that like, I feel like I’m a number one and I feel like I’m good enough to play week in, week out.”

Kelleher would be perfect addition for Leeds

The 26-year-old would be a great start to the Whites’ business this summer, as he has significant top-flight experience.

He has won several trophies with the Merseysiders, even being the hero in two Carabao Cup wins and an a FA Cup win.

He played his part in their title success under Arne Slot this season too, he made 10 appearances in the league with the Brazilian suffering from several injury issues.

In those matches, he proved his ability to play at the top level, keeping four clean sheets and recording a 72.1 per cent pass accuracy, showing his ability to distribute the ball, something which Farke’s side needs to add to their game, if they are to survive.

It would be a huge coup for the Peacocks if they could bring him to Yorkshire, ahead of the likes of West Ham and Brentford, who are also interested.

The 49ers have to do everything that they can to convince Kelleher that the move to LS11 is the right one, he would be a game-changing signing for the Whites.
