Karl Darlow has officially left Leeds United.

To make matters worse, the Welsh international has now signed for Manchester United as a free agent.

With the move confirmed by both clubs on Tuesday morning, there was a sense of anger in the air at Elland Road.

While losing Darlow isn't exactly a huge blow, there are certain lines that fans don't accept you crossing in football.

Elland Road to Old Trafford, or the other way round, is one of those.

Darlow has attempted to say goodbye to those in LS11, but the message hasn't exactly landed as he would have hoped.

What did Karl Darlow say to Leeds fans?

In what was meant to be an emotional farewell, it ended up being somewhat of a farce.

Leeds fans were straight in the comments, blatantly telling the keeper that he wouldn't be forgiven.

Darlow admitted that it was a "special" chapter helping Leeds back to the Premier League and keeping them there.

Weirdly, Darlow used a song with lyrics that sang: "Don't say you won't forgive me 'cos you always do."

It was very telling that zero Leeds players decided to comment on the post, with forgiveness notably lacking if that's what he expects.

Why did Karl Darlow leave Leeds for Man United?

MOT Leeds News previously reported that Darlow left Elland Road after being told he may not be number one.

Pair that with the fact he has signed somewhere that he certainly won't be number one, means that money played a huge role, too.

But, if it's forgiveness he's after, he's got that all wrong.

Why Karl Darlow is sacrificing more than just his club career after silly Leeds exit

That leaves Lucas Perri and Alex Cairns for Daniel Farke to work with, as Leeds enter the transfer market again.

Of course, fans are fed up about hearing the names of James Trafford and Zion Suzuki without real progress.

With Leeds pushing ahead to sign Sassuolo defender Tarik Muharemovic for big money, focus may shift to their next number one after.

Darlow won't be forgiven and will certainly be forgotten about quickly at Elland Road, so the next transfer is key.

After years of struggles in between the sticks, Leeds and the 49ers need to go big to make sure they sign their next big star.

Who will that be? Surely we're close to finding out.
