Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey offered to Leeds United for late January transfer
Aaron Ramsey has been offered to Leeds United as Juventus aim to offload the ex-Arsenal midfielder before the transfer deadline on 31 January, according to 90min.
The football news website reports that despite Ramsey, 31, being reluctant to leave Juventus, the Serie A club have told him he’s free to leave and have offered him to Leeds, Burnley, Crystal Palace and Newcastle. Everton are also said to be a possible destination.
It is understood that Ramsey is a high-earner at Juve and the Italians are growing frustrated with the central midfielder digging in his heels and trying to stay.
Ramsey is a big name and Leeds could definitely sign worse players than the former Arsenal star between now and the transfer window closing on Monday night.
He’s played 262 times in the Premier League, won three FA Cups, won one Serie A title and has played 71 times for Wales in what has arguably been their golden era.
Ramsey would be a fine addition to Leeds’ midfield and we would like to see him join us before the deadline passes.
However, we just really do not see it happening.
Leeds seemed to have put all their eggs in one basket in their pursuit of Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson.
And with it looking as though the USA international won’t be signed, Leeds probably have nowhere to turn and the incredibly picky Marcelo Bielsa is unlikely to have a second choice option.
Leeds cannot afford to not add to their midfield. They’re just one more injury, one suspension or one positive COVID test away from having their midfield options completely decimated with Kalvin Phillips and Adam Forshaw already out inured.
Bielsa can only put square pegs in round holes for a short amount of time, it’s not a viable strategy in the long-term.
In other Leeds United news, this star player wants to leave and could reject a new contract offer at Elland Road.
