West Ham offer over £40m for Leeds United winger Raphinha, Brazil ace keen on move

Raphinha is interested in joining West Ham after the London club launched a verbal offer worth £50million for the Leeds United star, according to 90min.

The football news website reports that Leeds instantly rejected West Ham’s offer of £40million plus £10million in add-ons but it may have a serious knock-on effect at Elland Road.

It is understood that the Whites want to give Raphinha a new contract that sees him extend his stay at Elland Road and earn a “significant” pay rise.

However, he’s now said to be unlikely to sign a new contract as it stands and wants to sign for West Ham if he’s given Leeds’ blessing.

Raphinha, though, will not force his way out of Elland Road.

Hard to believe

Why would Raphinha want to join West Ham?

Yes, they’re doing very well under David Moyes and there’s an outside chance they may win a spot in the Champions League next season.

But Raphinha is a player who’s been linked to some of the biggest and best clubs not only in the Premier League but also in Europe.

With the greatest respect to West Ham, you’d think that a move to Bayern Munich may be more appealing for the Leeds winger, who’s scored eight goals in 19 Premier League matches.

And all the noises we’ve heard from local media suggest that Leeds are confident that Raphinha will sign a new deal.

Unless this interest from West Ham has made a difference, we really doubt that the winger is considering not signing a new deal at Elland Road.

We don’t expect Raphinha to stay at Leeds more than another season and a half but to join West Ham? Get out.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites have made a bid to beat Newcastle in a last-ditch race to seal this player’s signature.
