Jorge Mendes may oversee last-gasp Leeds United exit for Helder Costa

Jorge Mendes could orchestrate a last-gasp move away from Leeds United for winger Helder Costa, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reports that Costa, 27, is the “most likely” senior player to leave Elland Road before the 11pm transfer deadline following Daniel James’ arrival from Manchester United.

Valencia have reportedly wanted Costa all summer but “senior sources at the Spanish club” insist that while a deal remains way off, it’s not impossible.

Get rid

Costa, we’re sorry, but it’s time for you to leave Leeds United.

With James arriving at Elland Road, game-time is looking increasingly less likely for the one-time Portugal international.

Costa played his role in helping us win promotion without being spectacular and last season, he really struggled in the Premier League despite joining from Wolves for £16million.

Leeds probably won’t get anywhere near that fee back for Costa, who still has another three years left on his deal in West Yorkshire.

It’s likely that Costa will leave on loan and we hope he can find a decent club for himself like Valencia.

As it stands, Valencia are third in La Liga after an impressive start to the season.

He’d probably get more game-time for them than he would for Leeds, who also have Jack Harrison, Raphinha and Stuart Dallas ahead of Costa in the pecking order, as well as James.

In other Leeds United news, a midfielder could yet arrive at Elland Road on loan before the deadline.
