Jonathan Rowe transfer update emerges at Leeds United amid Norwich City exit speculation
Leeds United aren’t expecting any significant movement in their move for Jonathan Rowe ahead of the weekend, according to Graham Smyth.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported via X (8 August) that while things can change quickly in the transfer window, the Whites didn’t expect things to progress ahead of the Championship’s opening weekend.
Daniel Farke’s side are understood to be keen to sign the Canaries attacker this summer, with reports suggesting Leeds are ready to up their offer to try and prize Rowe away from Carrow Road [Sky Sports, 8 August].
Will Jonathan Rowe exit Norwich City amid Leeds United transfer rumours?
Most Leeds United supporters would have liked a Crysencio Summerville replacement through the door ahead of the first game of the season, but it was never going to be easy to get Norwich to part ways with Rowe.
The Canaries have already sold several of their first team stars this summer and the board at Carrow Road will be eager to buck that trend now to stop the supporters from becoming frustrated with their business.
Ultimately, Farke should have the players at his disposal to get the season underway with a win this weekend as the Whites squad is still one of the strongest in the division even without Summerville and Archie Gray.
Hopefully, once the weekend has been and gone and Leeds have played Portsmouth, the recruitment team at Elland Road will step up their push for Rowe and try to get a deal done ahead of the second weekend of the campaign.
There are still a few weeks left of the window so it isn’t quite a race against time for the Whites, but they won’t want to leave their major business any later than they have to.
