Joel Piroe was one of the few players who didn't play a single minute for Leeds United against RB Leipzig on Saturday.

Elland Road hosted the Bundesliga outfit in a pre-season friendly on 8 August, with the Whites winning 2-0.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha scored on either side of the break in a game that had two 60-minute halves.

Piroe had to watch from the bench as Daniel Farke saw his two number nine options find the back of the net against Leipzig.

The likes of Wilfried Gnonto came off the bench, but the Suriname international didn't get an opportunity.

Last season, the 27-year-old centre-forward fell down the pecking order and uncertainty remains around his future in West Yorkshire.

One reason why Joel Piroe didn't play in Leeds United win vs RB Leipzig

Piroe has been linked with an exit from Leeds this summer after speculation about a possible exit in January.

In Calvert-Lewin and Nmecha, Farke has two strikers he clearly trusts, with the Englishman being the first choice.

With the two number nines putting in decent performances during pre-season, the Suriname international's prospects don't look encouraging.

It wouldn't be surprising to learn that the Whites are already working on the former Swansea City star's departure.

One reason Piroe may have been snubbed against the German team could be that talks are taking place at Elland Road about his sale, and they're now trying to protect him from picking up an injury.

What Daniel Farke has planned for Elland Road attack

Leeds signed Harry Wilson this summer and he has played a big role for Farke during pre-season.

The ex-Fulham star will surely bring a much-needed attacking threat to the Whites after a brilliant Premier League campaign.

While the West Yorkshire outfit did try to sign Julian Brandt, the German playmaker joined Ajax as a free agent.

The Peacocks may not be done with attacking additions, with a young backup for Calvert-Lewin wanted at Elland Road.

Fans have been left impressed with the Whites' transfer business so far after making some quality signings, and only time will tell who else they will sign in the coming weeks.
