Joe Rodon open to Leeds United permanent signing as transfer update emerges at Elland Road

Sources close to Joe Rodon have disclosed that the defender is “strongly considering” a permanent transfer to Leeds United, according to TEAMtalk.

The online source reported [11 March] that the 26-year-old, currently on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, is open to staying at Elland Road, whether the Whites claim promotion back to the Premier League or not.

With his deal at Tottenham set to expire in July 2025, it is understood that an offer in the region of £12million to £15million could be enough to convince Daniel Levy to sell.

Will Leeds United sign Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur?

The Wales international has helped Leeds to form one of the most formidable defences in the Championship this season, boasting the lowest number of goals conceded so far.

Daniel Farke could potentially take Leeds straight back up to the Premier League after the club were exiled from the first division after a struggle last season.

Rodon’s career at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has been an upsetting one to see unravel, having only made 24 appearances since signing from Swansea City in October 2020.

However, the centre-half has emerged as one of Farke’s most important players this campaign, and the club must be doing everything in their power to make the move permanent, whether the target of Premier League promotion is achieved or not.

While it could take a lot of Leeds’ funds in the summer transfer window, the squad could be left in the dark if they are unable to find a replacement for Rodon, should he return to London from his loan.

Joe Rodon is a major coup for Leeds United

With international teammates Ethan Ampadu, Connor Roberts and Dan James all at Elland Road, it comes as no surprise that the 26-year-old has settled into life in West Yorkshire.

Funnily enough, his impressive performances for Leeds have only made it more difficult for the Whites to sign him, with Premier League clubs keeping tabs while the price tag attached only continues to rise.
