Brighton have reportedly submitted a bid to sign Leeds United target and Los Angeles FC midfielder Jose Cifuentes.

According to Colombian media outlet La 10, Jesse Marsch is "fighting" to sign the 23-year-old in the final days of the transfer window.

It's believed that an offer in the region of £5million has been made for the Ecuador international with the Leeds hierarchy now knowing the amount they need to improve or match to sign the player.

Not needed

While Marsch may be passionate about signing players from the United States, he's already got his will when an American in Tyler Adams was signed to bolster the midfield.

Even though he plied his trade in Germany, there is a United States connection - something that was seen in the Brenden Aaronson deal as well.

Cifuentes would've been an interesting prospect at the start of the window when the Whites had not signed a new midfielder.

At the time, Kalvin Phillips' future also hung in the balance, but the Whites managed two sign two new midfielders since then.

Thus far, Marc Roca and Adams have looked the part and slotted seamlessly into the Leeds midfield.

There's no need to fix something that isn't broken as the likes of Stuart Dallas, Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich are there in reserve in case anything happens to either of them.

What Leeds need are a striker and a left-back so it's fine if Brighton end up signing one of their targets this summer.
