Leeds United striker target Bamba Dieng left out of Marseille squad again amid transfer speculation
Leeds United have been linked with a move for Marseille striker Bamba Dieng this summer and all signs point towards him leaving.
The Whites have been unsuccessful with their attempts to sign a new forward this summer and the hunt is still on for securing that major transfer.
Patrick Bamford’s injury scare last weekend amplifies the need for making this move sooner rather than later and Dieng does seem to be an easily attainable target.
After the Marseille team news was announced, Goal journalist Robin Bairner took to Twitter to write, “Still no Bamba Dieng in the Marseille squad to play Nantes tonight.
“Opportunity for a club to pick up a raw but potentially excellent striker. He’ll be a bit of a project, but the rewards could be huge.”
In the Irish Daily Star (August 17, page 45), it was claimed that the Whites are chasing Dieng and Fulham are cooling their interest in the 22-year-old.
With him continually being snubbed from matchday squads, it does make a lot of sense for the Whites to take steps towards signing him.
The 22-year-old may not be ideal in comparison to the attackers they’ve chased but seems to be the most attainable option, as things stand.
If they end the summer with no new striker, it will be a catastrophe so it makes sense for them to sign Dieng as long as he’s available.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites now have a clear run to sign a £20m-rated left-back as their Premier League rivals have now bowed out of the race.
