Jamie Carragher reacts as Leeds United unveil Sean McGurk

Jamie Carragher has sent his best wishes the Sean McGurk after Leeds United announced the signing of the 18-year-old on Thursday.

In a post on their official Twitter account, Leeds confirmed that the attacking midfielder had agreed a three-year deal at Elland Road after his contract at Wigan expired.

McGurk then retweeted Leeds’ post and that led to a three-word reply from ex-Liverpool and England defender Carragher.

Writing on his personal Twitter account, Carragher said: “Good luck, Sean.”

What’s the link?

McGurk joins Leeds having never made a senior appearance for Wigan so we doubt he’ll be joining up with Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team any time soon.

However, we do expect him to play for the Under-23s next season in Premier League 2 and join up with former Wigan teammate Joe Gelhardt, who should really be pushing for a spot in the senior side after his exploits at youth level last season.

McGurk’s move from Wigan to Leeds has attracted unexpected attention from Carragher but it’s perfectly explainable.

The attacking midfielder played alongside Carragher’s son James, who, like his father was, is a centre-back.

Carragher will no doubt know a bit about McGurk because he will have watched his son play a lot and therefore would have seen plenty of the newest addition at Leeds United.

Victor Orta has had a busy couple of weeks with four permanent additions sealed.

Amari Miller, Jack Harrison, Junior Firpo and now McGurk have all officially arrived at Thorp Arch and we cannot wait to see who will be next.

In other Leeds United news, Orta is also in talks to sign a new central midfielder.
