Iheanacho transfer news on Friday after Leeds allegedly wrap up Sevilla deal
Leeds United are not working on a deal to sign Kelechi Iheanacho, according to Ben Jacobs.
The broadcaster reported on 31 January that Cameron Archer is the primary target for the Whites as a deal for the Nigeria international is not on the cards as it stands.
This comes just over a week after the 28-year-old looked set to complete a move to Elland Road after Sevilla gave the striker the freedom to leave La Liga after signing Akor Adams [SCORENigeria].
Leeds United not working on Kelechi Iheanacho deal with Sevilla
It is clear that Daniel Farke wants to bolster his striker options in LS11 before the window slams shut on 3 February.
This has seen multiple options be discussed at Elland Road with the former Leicester City star targetted during a difficult spell with Sevilla.
The forward joined the Spanish outfit in the summer but after just five league starts this campaign, could already be on the move.
It doesn’t appear that his move is going to be back to England with Leeds who don’t appear to be in active conversation over a winter deal.
This could see Farke and Co. push harder towards bringing Archer in from Southampton who has emerged as a priority signing.
This doesn’t come as a surprise given his pedigree of scoring goals in the Championship but could be a difficult deal to pull off with Southampton.
With that being said, it will be interesting to see if the Whites land a striker before the window shuts and if Iheanacho or Archer are the ones to make a move to Yorkshire.
In other Leeds United news, a loanee has now agreed personal terms to quit Elland Road for good.
