Huddersfield Town CEO confirms two bids for Lewis O’Brien amid Leeds United reports

Huddersfield Town chief executive Mark Devlin has confirmed the Championship outfit have rejected two bids for Leeds United-linked Lewis O’Brien.

Writing on the HTAFC website, Devlin discussed the 22-year-old’s future and suggested he could still make a Terriers exit with less than three weeks until transfer deadline day.

He said: “The transfer window is still open, and it is still possible that players can leave and arrive before the end of August.

“There has been a lot of speculation surrounding Lewis O’Brien’s future, in particular, and I can confirm we have received and rejected two transfer offers for him.

“We respect every player’s desire to test themselves at the highest possible level, but equally any transfer must be right for Huddersfield Town, both in terms of value and timing. We will do our best to keep supporters informed as the window reaches its conclusion.”

Transfers set to heat up

It seems certain that Leeds are responsible for at least one of those bids after journalist Alan Nixon claimed via his personal Twitter account last week that the Whites were “yet to meet his valuation” with the Terriers demanding big money O’Brien.

Whether the second bid came from us again or a rival party remains to be seen.

What is clear, however, is Huddersfield’s stance on proceedings. They are holding firm in their desire to keep the midfielder unless they receive what they deem to be a fair fee.

The clock is ticking down to deadline day and thus moves are expected to pick up pace over the next couple of weeks.

Leeds have not been able to progress this deal quickly but events could change quickly as the Whites look to sign a central midfielder following Pablo Hernandez’s release earlier in the summer.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this Portuguese attacking sensation.
