Leeds United want to sign Portuguese winger Fabio Carvalho amid contract impasse
Leeds United are monitoring Fulham winger Fabio Carvalho after the 18-year-old recently rejected a new contract, according to the Daily Mail.
The teenager who was born in Lisbon, Portugal, but plays international football at youth level for England, has entered the final year of his current deal with the Cottagers, and Leeds are keeping tabs alongside Porto, Norwich City and West Ham.
It is reported that Fulham want to keep Carvalho but that their owners face a difficult decision over whether to cash in on him if they cannot reach an agreement over a new contract.
Carvalho looks to be another star that Leeds have set their sights on, and he would join the likes of Lewis Bate, Sean McGurk and Amari Miller as highly-rated England youth internationals to make the move to West Yorkshire this summer if a deal can be reached.
He made his senior debut with Fulham last season and scored on his full Premier League debut in a 3-1 defeat to Southampton in May.
Carvalho was born in Portugal but moved to England at an early age and rose through the ranks at the London club’s academy.
Like the aforementioned names above, he would likely join the burgeoning talent in the Leeds under-23s side if the Whites can snare him from the Championship outfit.
However, his goal last season proved that he can handle himself on the big stage, and he may well fancy his chances of playing senior football next season.
That looks unlikely at any of the clubs reported to be interested, which could see him end up staying at Fulham.
However, it appears all is not well between player and club, and the Whites should look to steal in and sign another teen sensation.
