How much Leeds need to pay for Dilane Bakwa after £24m bid rejected

Leeds United may need to invest heavily to sign Strasbourg forward Dilane Bakwa.

The 22-year-old caught a lot of people’s attention last season with some impressive displays in Ligue 1.

Bakwa is on the radar at Elland Road, with the Whites looking to strengthen the left side of their attack before the end of August.

The West Yorkshire outfit missed out on Igor Paixao to Olympique Marseille, and have now been told how much another one of their targets will cost.

Strasbourg want between £26-30million for Bakwa

Leeds will need to pay around £30million to sign Bakwa from Strasbourg this summer, according to Isaac Johnson.

The journalist revealed on X (9 August) that the 22-year-old is attracting interest from Elland Road, but the Whites are yet to make any advancements.

It’s been claimed that Nottingham Forest are leading the race for the France Under-21 international, but have seen a £24m offer rejected by the Ligue 1 club.

The left-footed winger’s current contract expires in 2027, and with the Tricky Trees expected to make another bid, the West Yorkshire outfit will have to make a decision soon.

What can Bakwa bring to Leeds?

Daniel Farke arguably needs new attackers at Leeds now that Mateo Joseph has joined Mallorca on loan.

Bakwa is capable of playing across the front line, and that versatility will come in handy for the German manager in the Premier League.

The 22-year-old’s dribbling and passing ability make him a threat to opposition defenders, and his ability on set pieces is also admirable.

Leeds could also get an extra edge in their attack if they sign the Frenchman, as he can score some long-distance goals.

Dan James needs more competition at Elland Road as his performances during pre-season have been rather underwhelming.

Bakwa likes to play crosses into the box, so he can also contribute immensely for the West Yorkshire outfit on the left wing.

The Whites know what they need to pay for the 22-year-old, but it remains to be seen whether they feel he’s worth it.
