How much Leeds United could receive in add-ons for Joe Gelhardt as Hull City transfer confirmed
Joe Gelhardt has completed a permanent transfer from Leeds United to Hull City.
The 24-year-old has never quite been able to make the first-team grade at Elland Road, and didn't seem to feature in Daniel Farke's plans.
Having joined Leeds in the summer of 2020, the versatile forward has made 57 appearances for the Whites, scoring three goals and providing seven assists.
Gelhardt enjoyed a career-best campaign with Hull City last season, netting 15 times and chipping in with five assists in 44 total appearances.
As such, he was integral to the Tigers' promotion to the Premier League after also spending time on loan there in the 2024-25 season.
Now, he will call the MKM Stadium his permanent home, after completing his transfer on Saturday.
What is the structure of the Joe Gelhardt deal Leeds have agreed to?
The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed on Friday that Gelhardt's move to Hull could eventually see Leeds bank £8million.
Reports have now revealed just how much of that is stashed away in add-ons, and how much makes up the initial fee.
According to Sky Sports on Saturday shortly after Gelhardt's move to Hull was confirmed, they claim that the deal is worth an initial £6.5m.
They also claim that the deal involves add-ons, and so a further £1.5m in bonuses would take the total package to £8m.
Some Leeds fans will feel this is perhaps a slightly low fee to receive for the forward, especially off the back of his excellent season with Hull in the Championship.
He's English, is still only 24 and can play anywhere across the forward line, and other top Championship talents have been selling for considerably more than that.
But, this was his first big-producing season of his career, and he was only contracted at Elland Road until next summer, which will have impacted his value.

This is what has happened with Gelhardt and Hull City, as he's really started to kick on and produce quality goal contribution numbers for the Tigers.
As quoted via the aforementioned Sky Sports report, it's clear that Gelhardt feels that now is the right time to leave Leeds for Hull on a permanent basis.
“I’m over the moon. It’s been a great 18 months playing here – I’ve loved every minute of it," he said.
"Since the season ended, I knew exactly where I wanted to be. Thankfully, it’s happened.
"As soon as I joined the club, I connected with the fans, the staff, all the players. I’m happy to be here on a permanent now, rather than a loan.
“Last season was amazing for everyone involved. A lot of people wrote us off and didn’t believe we could do it. We knew the quality we had and there was such a togetherness at the club.
"I was delighted with the way it happened at Wembley, in the last minute. It was brilliant! Everyone is aware of how much love I have for Hull. Once the owner called, it was always going to be Hull."
