Max Wober has become a forgotten man at Leeds United.

Suffering two serious injuries during his time at Elland Road and out on loan, it's been a couple of years to forget for the Austrian.

After missing the majority of his loan spell with Werden Bremen last season, Wober won't return to LS11.

In fact, Dirk Schlarmann has reported that Wober could be announced as a Schalke player as soon as Wednesday evening.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist has stated that the defender has gone straight into the second part of his medical already.

Leeds are happy to get it done, and will terminate his contract one year early to get him off the wagebill.

With Pascal Struijk leaving and Tarik Muharemovic signing, it's currently one in and one out at Elland Road.

That's a straight swap, and Wober's exit won't impact the squad whatsoever, given he wasn't included last season anyway.

Sebastiaan Bornauw remains the current back-up to the main three, although another defender could still be signed.

Joe Rodon and Jaka Bijol are going nowhere, and it will depend on what system Farke uses as to where Muharemovic fits in.

It's hard to imagine anything other than the five-at-the-back system being used, with Harry Wilson also slotting in behind Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Ironically, that likely would have suited Wober more during his time at Elland Road, with the left-footer always playing in a four despite limited pace.

After starting to force his way out after Premier League relegation, Leeds fans left Wober behind, even when he returned sporadically in the Championship.
