How Leeds United have been won over by Nelson Deossa as reps fly out

Leeds United now look even more determined to sign Nelson Deossa from Real Betis.

The 26-year-old is a central midfielder by trade but has also impressed further up the field.

Deossa only joined Betis from Monterrey a year ago and enjoyed an eye-catching maiden campaign in LaLiga.

Leeds have been keeping tabs on Deossa this window with a view to making a move.

Deossa's ability to play in multiple positions is just another string to his bow.

And it seems that Leeds' interest has now ramped up a notch amid an update emerging on Wednesday.

Real Betis stance shared as Leeds eye Nelson Deossa deal

Deossa still has four years to run on the contract he signed at Betis last summer.

That means the Spanish side have plenty of bargaining power when it comes to the Colombian's future.

As per a fresh update from transfer specialist Sebastien Vidal, Leeds representatives have now personally scouted Deossa.

Whites chiefs have been in attendance and are said to have been "won over by [Deossa's] profile".

However, Vidal adds that Betis wish to keep hold of their number 18 beyond this summer.

A previous report suggested Deossa is not actively pushing for an exit from Estadio de La Cartuja.

If Leeds can get the funds together, however, then this is a deal that would make perfect sense.

How Deossa surprised his own Real Betis teammates

Deossa filled in as a number nine for Betis last season because of injury problems.

He clearly did a good job as teammate Facundo Bernal was quoted last month as saying: "Nelson Deossa is the one who surprised me the most.

"I know he is a midfielder, but he is playing as a number nine and he has impressed me."

That ability to play in central midfield or further up - not necessarily as a striker but someone playing off the striker - will have Daniel Farke licking his lips.

The fact Leeds reps have been to watch Deossa certainly suggestions the interest is advancing.

The big question, however, is whether Leeds can persuade Betis to cash in and the player himself to make the move.
