How Leeds can solve Daniel Farke conundrum in an instant as Pavel Sulc talks begin

Leeds United appear to have ramped up their search for a new attacking midfielder by opening talks with Lyon over Pavel Sulc.

The Czechia international impressed in Ligue 1 last season as he scored 11 goals and assisted three more in 27 outings.

Sulc's form did not go unnoticed as numerous clubs on the continent, Leeds included, are eager to sign the versatile attacker.

After representing Czechia at the World Cup, the 25-year-old was given an extended break off by Lyon.

And it appears Leeds are now serious when it comes to potentially bringing former Viktoria Plzen ace Sulc to Elland Road.

How much do Lyon want from Leeds for Pavel Sulc?

Lyon are in financial trouble and are looking to raise funds through player sales this summer.

Sulc is one of the French side's prized assets, but he is still available for relatively cheap all things considered.

Foot Mercato reported on Saturday that Lyon want €25million (£21.3m) for Sulc.

The report adds that Leeds are in discussions with Lyon, although no agreement is in place.

Sulc was directly involved in 25 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions last season, so that is a fee that Leeds will surely be tempted by.

However, they may have to wait a little while longer to reach any sort of agreement.

Why Lyon want to delay Sulc exit

Lyon will have to qualify for the Europa League if they are to compete in the competition this coming season.

Paulo Fonseca's side enter at the third-qualifying round in early August and hope to have Sulc in their side for that two-legged affair.

That is only a couple of weeks away, however, and Leeds will no doubt be okay with delaying a move if they can work towards an agreement.

Leeds are not be alone with their interest, so it is imperative these talks move along quickly if the Whites are to avoid missing out.

Brenden Aaronson clearly is not the answer for Leeds in the attacking midfield position, whereas Sulc has proved he can both score and create.

As far as transfer calls go, they do not come much more simpler than this one.
