Harry Gray ready to snub Tottenham transfer after new Leeds United exit update

Carlton Palmer believes Harry Gray would be ready to snub a move to Tottenham in favour of remaining at Leeds United.

Reports suggest Spurs are keeping tabs on the 15-year-old having signed his older brother Archie from Daniel Farke’s side this summer after an impressive breakthrough season at Elland Road [Graeme Bailey, 11 September].

Although Football League World pundit Palmer admits a move to North London would entice Harry Gray in the future, he believes the opportunity to play regularly at Elland Road will see him remain a Leeds player.

As quoted by Football League World (16 September) he said: “They’re keeping tabs on his younger brother Archie Gray, with the Premier League side hoping to reunite the 15-year-old with his brother.

“It’s one hell of a gamble for such a young player, but the 15-year-old has already accelerated through the ranks, making his debut for the U18’s when he was still 14, scoring in a 4-3 defeat to Sunderland last October.

“Unfortunately, he’s picked up an injury, so his season hasn’t kicked off yet. Obviously, with his brother down there, it would entice Harry to want to go there to a big club.

“But they’re a great family, and they’re Leeds through and through, and I think that they would look at Harry going through his apprenticeship like his brother did and build up a reputation where big clubs come calling.

“You don’t want to be going to a big club now as a young player and not playing. Archie’s already involved with the first-team and that’s what you want, because otherwise you may as well stay at Leeds United and play more games.

“It’s always going to be difficult when brothers are concerned, but I think him being a Leeds supporter and his family playing there, although there’ll be a pull, he’ll still be at Leeds United for years to come.”

Will Harry Gray exit Leeds United amid Tottenham transfer rumours?

Harry Gray may not have broken into the Leeds United first team yet like his brother did last season, but he is incredibly highly regarded at Elland Road and Farke has shown he is willing to throw him into the fold.

Although the Whites boss has been keen to temper the expectations of supporters throughout pre-season, his decision to take the teenager on Leeds’ pre-season tour shows that he rates him highly.

The Whites are in a position now where they should be able to keep some of the biggest and brightest talents at Elland Road for the foreseeable future having balanced the books with some high-profile exits this summer.

Leeds don’t need to sell Harry Gray and it does seem unlikely that the player would be in any rush to leave his boyhood club.

All the signs suggest that Palmer is right and the 15-year-old could be a Whites player for a long yet.
