Graham Smyth reacts to Max Aarons transfer rumour at Leeds United as eagle-eyed fan spots private jet
Graham Smyth labelled evidence of a private jet taking off from Bournemouth to Leeds United a mere “coincidence” amid rumours the Whites want to sign Max Aarons.
The Yorkshire Evening Post’s chief football writer posted on X [27 August] to reference the plane, which was shared on the same platform by a fan who noticed the journey it took this morning.
Smyth, though, indicated that it had nothing to do with Leeds’ reported interested in the full-back.
As reported by Ian Abrahams [26 August], Leeds alongside clubs from Italy are interested in Aarons, with the right-back having worked with Daniel Farke previously and Bournemouth prepared to sell.
Leeds United transfer rumours circling
Leeds United have had a chaotic window, although regarding incomings this has not been enough for the fans’ liking.
Manor Solomon is very much anticipated to complete his move and be unveiled at Elland Road on Tuesday, which would make it six first-team recruits compared to 19 players off the books this term.
Farke and his recruitment staff will be enormously busy through the week searching the market and are expected to get several deals over the line to give the squad a much-needed bulk.
Burnley winger Manuel Benson may have a pathway cleared to move to West Yorkshire [Daily Mirror, 27 August], with the Clarets having seemingly beaten Leeds to the loan signing of Jaidon Anthony, who played 38 times on loan with the Whites last year.
The club may also have to fend off approaches for their most coveted stars, including Wilfried Gnonto.
In other Leeds news, the club may have a succession plan for Patrick Bamford.
